About Kimberly

Welcome

Coaching is about listening, asking questions, creating space for my clients, supporting, challenging, and empathizing.

I get asked a lot of questions about my work as a coach and how I help individuals. Using a loose definition from the Co-Active Training Institute: “Coaching is about discovery, awareness, and choice. It is a way of effectively empowering people to find their own answers, encouraging and supporting them on the path as they continue to make important choices.”

Coaching is about listening, asking questions, creating space for my clients, supporting, challenging, and empathizing; it’s not about me giving advice. I help my clients discover the choices that are most resonant and authentic to them.

“Primed to expect that our lives will follow a predictable path, we’re thrown when they don’t. We have linear expectations but nonlinear realities.”

My Journey

My career has spanned many geographies and a few industries. It hasn’t been a straight line, but I’m showing up and learning as I go.

I started at Bain & Company in MBA Recruiting and used that strong people focus and operations experience to an eventual role at Wharton in MBA Admissions. After the birth of my first child, I took a role supporting and coaching clients with their application to elite business schools. I supported clients 1:1 and these connections, combined with the ongoing coaching, gave me my first real exposure to coaching. There was nothing like seeing your clients succeed (in this case, getting into business school!).

We moved to Beijing, China as a family. This was definitely out of my comfort zone and I moved with a few reservations. I got rehired by Bain and slowly started embracing our new life abroad– the language, food, and amazing travel. Asia is also where my coaching journey really kicked off. I led a new career coaching initiative in the region, coaching employees with career questions, and training leaders on how to coach. This role grew and spread across the region and supported me when we moved to Singapore.

We moved back to the US, I stayed with Bain and finished my coaching coursework and certification. I now work in the wellbeing team at Bain helping our employees be their best selves– and lead our coaching programming in the Americas. I officially launched my website and coaching company in 2023. It hasn’t always been an easy journey and definitely not on a straight line. There are days where it’s hard to take a stand, where my people-pleasing tendencies rear their ugly heads, but I’m showing up and learning as I go (with a lot of sarcasm and humor!).
